Start Action
The window displayed when Proto starts
This article describes the functionality of the Start Action window displayed when Proto starts.
Introduction
The Start Action window is the first window that appears when Proto starts. It provides quick access to common tasks in Proto.
Opening a Module
The first three buttons in this window provide different ways of opening a custom module in Proto.
The button opens a window that allows you to open a module from a repository or from the web. The button opens a file browsing dialog which allows you to select a Proto module file from your computer and import it into Proto. The button creates a new, empty custom module for you to edit.
Management
The buttons grouped under Management provide access to the windows used to manage the modules, ProtoDBs, and repositories in Proto.
The button opens the Manage Custom Modules window which allows you to manage the custom modules stored in the current repository. See the Managing Custom Modules article for more information. The button opens the Database Repository Manager window which allows management of ProtoDBs including export and import functionality. See the ProtoDB article for more information. The button opens the Repository Manager window where you can join a different repository or create a new repository. See the Repository article for more information. The button opens the Options window which allows you to set your login information for the Proto website.
Hiding the Window
There is a check box in the lower left of the Start Action window labeled “Show this window on launch.” If you leave this check box checked the Start Action window will appear whenever Proto is started. If you uncheck it, Proto will instead open a new, empty custom module when it starts. If you have set the Start Action window to no longer appear, but would like to enable it again, you can do so by selecting Options… in the Tool menu and checking the “Show Start Actions window on startup” check box.
