Lesson 01 - Getting Started with Proto

In the first lesson, you will create a simple workflow dashboard to combine two sets of data and then analyze the results using interactive reports. This tutorial has taken most people between 40 - 90 minutes to complete.

Lesson Overview

This introduction will teach you the following functionality and concepts:
  • Launch, edit and save new Proto dashboards.
  • Insert and connect Components to create new functionality.
  • Create new steps in a workflow.
  • Merge two datasets, filter data, enrich data and present data in dynamic reports.

A partially-built dashboard is provided with this lesson, which already has two related sets of data loaded into the file. The lesson will take you through the steps to complete it. You will combine these data sets, add a simple filter to eliminate some of the data, and then experiment with some dynamic reports like a drill down pie graph, an aggregation report and an XY scatter plot. The data used in this lesson is from a mock stock portfolio, but the functionality you learn will apply to combining and analyzing any related numerical and qualitative data.
