Proto 1.1 Is Out! | June 19, 2006
by Jeb Boniakowski
We've put the finishing touches on release 1.1 and it's now ready to go.
We're excited about a lot of new things in this release, but here are a few improvements that stand out above the others:
- Adobe Flash Integration
- Proto now includes a Flash Player module that lets you move data from Proto into Flash and back again. Flash animations and interfaces get displayed right in the Proto Viewer like any other control. So now you can use Proto to load, clean, and process data, then move it to Flash to take advantage of Flash's interactive graphical capabilities, and then bring it back to Proto.
- New User Interface
- We've done a lot of work on our user interface, focused on the Viewer. In addition to looking more attractive, the Viewer now supports grid layouts, has more arrangement and alignment controls, and is much, much easier to edit.
- Improved Performance
- There are performance and stability tweaks throughout the system, but the biggest improvements are around loading modules. Certain modules load ten times faster in 1.1 than they did in 1.0 (be sure to resave the module in 1.1 if you want to see this for yourself).
Proto Viewer is free to download, and once you're up and running with it, it only takes a couple minutes to get a free trial of Proto Financial. Let us know what you think of the new release on the forums.
